Psalm 23-25
Psalm 23 is part of a trilogy of atonement Psalms – revealing the three aspects of the ministry of Yahshua the Anointed. Psalm 22 is the Psalm of the Sacrifice: the culmination of the first advent of the Master. Psalm 23 is the Psalm of the Shepherd: the priestly guidance of the Master as he sits at the right hand of the Father. It reveals the completeness of divine care. [1] Yahweh as the Good Shepherd: vv. 1-4, and [2] Yahweh as the bountiful king: vv. 5-6. The word “paths” in verse 3 is from a Hebrew word signifying “orbit; the power of magnetism deriving from the power of the sun.” Such a power in David’s life kept him to the way of righteousness. There is a wonderful hidden story in this psalm, revealing the eight stages of the Lord as the manifestation of the eternal Father. He is seen as: • Yahweh Rawahi, The Shepherd (v. 1; Jn. 10). • Yahweh Yireh, The Provider (“I shall not want”). • Yahweh Shalom, The peace (“He leadeth me beside still waters”). • Yahweh Ropheka, The Healer (“He restoreth my soul”). • Yahweh Tzikenu, The Righteousness (“in the paths of righteousness”). • Yahweh Shammah, The Companion (“Thou art with me”). • Yahweh Nissi, The Victor (“In the presence of my enemies”). • Yahweh M’quaddishim, The Anointed (“He anointeth my head”). Those titles are also the eight steps to final glory and joy, the path of the righteous. Psalm 24 is the Psalm of the Sovereign: depicting the authority and glory of the King on Zion’s hill: at the return of the Lord from heaven. [1] The universality of His influence: vv. 1-2. [2] Condition of access to His sanctuary: vv. 3-6. [3] Entrance of the Divine King: vv. 7-10. Psalm 25 is an appeal for forgiveness of sins and help in time of affliction and trouble. It seems to be composed at a later period in David’s life after his transgression with Bathsheba (cp. Lk. 24:44-47). [1] A prayer for protection, guidance, and pardon: vv. 1-7. [2] Basis of prayer: Yahweh’s goodness: vv. 8-15. [3] Renewed prayer for help and consummation of the divine purpose: vv. 16-22. — Logos.
